Travelling by plane
Flights arrive at Prague's Ruzyne Inernational Airport.
It has three terminals, Terminals 1, 2 and 3, whereby Terminal 1 and 2 deal with both, international and domestic departures and arrivals, whereas terminal 3 serves general business aviation.
For more information about the airport and how to get from there to the city centre and/or your hotel, please consult the following link: http://www.pragueairport.co.uk/terminals.htm
Travelling by train
Prague has several train stations. The most widely used ones are the Main Station (Hlavní nádraží), Holešovice Station (Nádraží Holešovice), and Smíchov Station (Nádraží Smíchov). They are all accessible by the metro and several tram lines.
Please consult their Czech Republic Trains page to learn about train ticket discounts, train ticket fare calculator, advance online reservations and international fares.
Travelling by car
The Czech republic is covered with a network of generally good roads; old routes often go through villages and small towns. There are some 500 km of European-style motorways, the main ones being the D1 or E50/E65 between Prague and Brno.
If you want to you use some motorways outside of Prague you will need to pay special tax.
If you pay this you will receive a round sticker which you put on the car (can be bought at post offices - 15days tax cost 200CZK (8.05 EUR) or 1 year 900CZK (36.21 EUR). In the winter time the motor vehicles must be alight all day. Prices of petrol are a little bit cheaper compare to some EU countries. You can expect to pay between 25 CZK to 30 CZK (around 1.01-1.50 EURO) for a litre of unleaded or leaded fuel. Remember: You are required to have a zero blood alcohol level when driving. Breath testing is quite rare but still be careful when driving late night or early Fri or Sat morning. If you are caught first time you pay a hefty fine around 5000 CZK.
Taxis
Warning: Unfortunately for Prague, its taxi drivers have become a scar on its reputation.
Don't get into a taxi that is parked in front of the train station or at a tourist site.
These are waiting for unsuspecting tourists and are known to charge rates several times higher than they should be.
There are two official companies allowed taking people from the Airport: AAA RADIO TAXI and Radiocab Taxi. Both companies have counters in the "Arrivals" halls of terminals 1 and 2.
Company | Phone numbers | Links |
AAA Radio Taxi
| +420 222 333 222
|
|
Radiocab Taxi | +420 220 113 892 |
The cost of journey between the airport and Prague Congress Centre should be comprised between 700 and 800 CZK (28–32 Euro) depending on traffic and selected route. In extreme traffic conditions, the fare may rise up.
All information about the different means of transportation from the airport can be found here.
